Wrist pain

ArthroRejuvenation® Stem cell procedure for treatment of a variety of wrist pain issues including:

arthritis, kienbacks disease, fractures, tendinitis, ligament injuries.

Wrist pain is caused by a variety of issues including, arthritis, fractures, ligament injuries, tendinitis, and lack of blood supply to certain bones in the wrist causing conditions such as kienbacks disease. The wrist is evaluated by an exam and certain diagnostic imaging is available at our facility such as ultrasound, X-ray, and extremity MRI. typical conservative management may consist of steroids, anti inflammatory medications, bracing, and therapy. Our stem cell procedures have demonstrated an improvement in the healing ability of the joint with decreased pain and improved function. These procedures can often delay or prevent the need for more aggressive surgery. When surgery is indicated these procedures can greatly improve the healing and decrease recovery time.

Case examples:

  • Kienbacks Disease - avascular necrosis of the lunate bone

A 26 yr old female with 2 years history of kienbacks had wrist pain with decreased function. She wanted to proceed with minimally invasive options. We performed a minimally invasive surgery with arthroscopy of the wrist to visualize the bone and through a small hole placed into the bone, we performed ArthroRejuvenation stem cell procedure. The tissue was placed into the damaged bone and within weeks she demonstrated significant improvement and decreased pain.

  • Ligament injury to wrist - Scapholunate ligament

A young male olympic diver was preparing for the upcoming olympics and had worsening wrist pain. imaging demonstrated a scapholunate ligament injury but was still intact. We performed the ArthroRejuvenation stem cell procedure under ultrasound guidance. He had progressive improvement over next few weeks and was able to train and compete in the olympics without any further issues.

  • Wrist arthritis

Wrist arthritis is extremely common and unfortunately often leads to various aggressive surgery including wrist joint fusion when severe. We have performed the ArthroRejuvenation procedure as a non surgical treatment which provides much better and long lasting pain relief compared to temporary relief obtained with steroid injections. We have also performed the procedure along with surgical procedures including arthroscopy which can remove inflamed tissue and even debride damaged bone, ligaments, and cartilage.
